clean paste.

Since we now know that dental health reflects the health of our entire selves, taking good care of our mouths while being mindful of the toxic components of most product on the market is critical. Most people don’t really think about the products that they are using. For the longest time, I used the toothpaste brand that my family used when I was growing up because I was used to the taste, I knew the brand, and you can’t really go wrong with toothpaste, right? However, in the last five years of my life, I have made an effort to be more conscious of the products that I use – this benefits my own health as well as the environment. And, really, no one wants to brush their teeth with toxins. The only problem with natural brands is working through the duds to find products that really work well. I’ve tried a bunch of natural toothpastes, and have finally found one that gives me the minty fresh feeling we all want to feel when we brush, and a clean feeling that lasts all day. Basically, it’s good stuff…

So, do yourself a big favor and try auromere dental products! My favorite toothpaste flavor is the fresh mint, but the original licorice flavor is decent as well. It’s an ayurvedic product that contains 23 herbal extracts to help keep your teeth white, plaque and tartar-free, helps to keep your gums healthy, aids in reducing tooth sensitivity and is fluoride- and gluten-free! The main ingredient is fine chalk that acts as a gentle cleanser, and it works as a really nice tooth polish as well!

Brush at least twice per day and floss once daily to maintain good dental health. Don’t forget to see a dentist twice per year as well, but be mindful of the techniques that are used at your dentist (for example do they use fluoride? Do they take unnecessary x-rays – do we really need to be exposed to more radiation than necessary… is it even necessary?). Additionally, you can get in touch with grass roots organizations to help get rid of fluoridated water in your area (dental products explicitly state that we shouldn’t swallow fluoridated dental care products, so why should we swallow fluoridated water? Recent research makes it very clear that swallowing fluoride does not aid in dental care, and is in fact dangerous).

The dangers of fluoride are now so well-known (there are toxic, including neurotoxic effects, and it actually damages your teeth if they are too frequently exposed to this compound; read more about the dangers of fluoride herehere, and here), and action must be taken in order to reduce our exposure. When I was a kid, fluoride was in our water, given in little pills for us at breakfast (I used to be jealous of my cousins because they got to take bright, fun-colored fluoride pills with breakfast!), slathered on our teeth every six months at the dentist, and supplemented in our dental care products… This is damaging to the brain (dementia, Alzheimer’s, low IQ, et cetera), thyroid and endocrine issues, bones (including bone cancer), and kidneys. Think about this: fluoride was first used in Germany as a rat poison in the 1920s. Additionally, it commonly causes dental fluorosis (32% of children now have dental fluorosis), and to boot, modern, unbiased science concludes that the benefits it supposedly provides for our teeth are exaggerated. If you don’t know what dental fluorosis is, click here for more info… or check out a picture of the white spot my lovely (big) front tooth!

We now have the knowledge to make informed decisions about our health… Today I’ll challenge you to take the reigns and make the choice to abandon fluoridated, toxin-laden dental care products for the health of you and those around you!

Here’s to protecting your teeth, your brain, and your health (oh, and the environment)!

Lauren

hi smitty. thanks for reading! :D while some of this information may appear to be simply paranoid mumbo jumbo, (particularly if you are commonly exposed to generalized and dated recommendations) i can assure you that i am presenting results of actual scientific research. that being said, there are always so many different truths (you can find a research article to argue just about anything!), and we can’t really know everything… i always recommend that you go with your intuition and do what’s best for you and your loved ones – if that’s using fluoridated products and drinking fluoridated water, that’s just fine… i do hope that the information here was helpful in your decision-making process, and that you’ve weighed the risks and benefits (as there are always both) of using this potentially harmful neurotoxin.
