resistance.

I’ve said it once (or twice) before… And, I’ll say it again (and likely again and again!). Antibiotic resistance is on the rise. And, it doesn’t show any slowing so long as we continue on with our ignorant ways. What does that mean for YOU? Potentially bacterial infections that cannot be cured with antibiotics; thus, potentially life-threatening illnesses.  EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS.

I read an article TODAY that reported antibiotic resistant bacteria is now found in at least 37 states (yes, United States). Other countries are not immune (no pun intended) either. What’s more, encountering certain types of superbugs puts a person at a 50% mortality rate!  So, what can you do?

1) Read up on some of my previous posts about antibiotic resistance (see: what’s for dinner, and in some parts of why i say no to GMOs) for tips on how to help reduce the presence of these superbugs.

2) Google antibiotic resistance and look at some of the information out there on the web. Find out why using antibacterial products, taking antibiotics without first getting a positive culture back from your doctor, and eating GMOs and non-organic meats are all a part of the problem.

3) TELL YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS, CO-WORKERS, LOCAL BUSINESSES, ET CETERA that they can be a part of the solution by refusing to use antibacterial products (I see so many places that put this stuff EVERYWHERE, and it’s enraging – just wash your hands with hot water and regular soap as soon as possible instead of slathering that stuff on your hands!), eat GMO/non-organic meat, or  refrain from asking for antibiotics without first knowing that you have an infection (something to think about – our water supply has antibiotics in it, likely from many sources including urine from animals and people!).

4) Share this post with everyone you know! Ignorance is bliss, but it is certainly not a part of the solution. Knowledge is power!

Many thanks,

Lauren

I remember the days when doctors used to prescribe them to me 6 times a year. I even remember getting upset with one doctor when he wouldn’t prescribe them to me. Times have changed. I have been educated and I haven’t used them in over 3 years… that is until last week. I had a dental infection and they really helped me out. I had been taking natural antibiotic supplements, but my body had been used to them as well so they only reduced inflammation a little bit. The antibiotics really helped me in this case and that is what they are good for. They are good for emergency situations only! You make a great case here, Lauren, and I applaud your efforts. As a fellow health educator and lover of science, your work makes me smile to no end. Please keep up the good work and education. Health education is so important these days! God Bless you and Namaste. Sat Nam. Om Tat Sat.

That’s awesome that you’ve figured out how to use antibiotics correctly! I think most of us went through something similar – I know I used to get them ALL the time too. :-/ Glad to hear that you are feeling better! And, thank you for the kind words – much appreciated! :D
